Howard Stringer, chairmanand CEO of Sony Corporation Of America and vice chairman, Sony Corporation,will receive BAFTA/LA's Britannia Award for contributions to worldwideentertainment at the 12th annual Britannia Awards on Nov 8 in LosAngeles.

'We are pleased to honor Sir Howard Stringer, who hasmade immeasurable contributions to the manner and practice of entertainmentbusiness,' said BAFTA/LA chairman Gary Dartnall in a statement. 'Hehas maintained the highest level of integrity and esteem throughout his tenureas a journalist, producer and executive at CBS Inc. to his current post atSony.'

Prior to joing Sony,Stronger was president of CBS from 1988 to 1995 and was responsible for all thebroadcast activities of the company. From 1986 to 1988 he was president of CBSNews and prior to that held positions as executive producer of CBS Evening Newsand the CBS Reports documentary unit.

He joins Hugh Grant andPeter Weir as one of three honorees on the night.
