Summit International has picked up international rights to The Book Of Eli starring Denzel Washington and will introduce the apocalyptic tale to buyers at AFM next month.

The Book of Eli marks the first theatrical project from Albert and Allen Hughes since From Hell opened in 2001.

Washington is producing with Joel Silver and Alcon Entertainment's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Gary Whitta and Anthony Peckham wrote the screenplay set in a desolate United States in the near future where a lone warrior fights for survival and uncovers the devastating truth than can bring civilisation back from the brink of destruction.

The project is currently in pre-production. Warner Bros holds North American rights.
