30 year-old film non-profitorganization Women Make Movies (WMM) has acquired North American distributionrights to the documentary Love & Diane which world premiered at the Locarno Film Festival last year, winningthe Golden Leopard, and played at the New York Film Festival before itsAmerican Spectrum screenings at this week's Sundance Film Festival.

Directed by JenniferDworkin, Love & Diane is theepic story of an ex-addict's struggle to reunite her family. The filmis apresentation of the Independent Television Service (ITVS) and co-produced byArte (France). It isproduced by Dworkin and executive produced byJennifer Fox.

The film's theatrical runwill commence at the Film Forum in New York in April 2003. POV, publicbroadcasting's independent film series, will be broadcasting the film in 2004.The BBC plans to broadcast the film in the UK in the spring of 2003.Negotiations for other foreign territories are underway

The deal with WMM wasbrokered by Andrew Herwitz of The Film Sales Company.

Women Make Movies also hasUS distribution rights to Kim Longinotto's documentary The Day I Will NeverForget which screens in Sundance aspart of the festival's new World Cinema documentary programme.
