TechnicolorDigital Cinema has signed a deal with US chain Century Theatres to installdigital projection systems for up to 120 screens.

The betatest is the start of a plan to convert 5,000 screens in the next three to fiveyears.

Technicolorsays it wants its digital equipment in 15,000 screens in the next 10 years.

The deal withCentury - which has more than 1,000 screens in the US - gives it a serious foothold in acompetitive market.

"Weare pleased to be working with Century Theatres in advancing the ongoingdevelopment of digital cinema in major markets throughout North America, anindustry transition which is critically-important to the exhibition community,and major film studios," said Technicolor Digital Cinema boss Joe Berchtold in a statement.
