She will serve as director of Ajyal and Qumra festivals.
Fatma Al Remaihi, who had been acting CEO of Doha Film Institute since August, has now been confirmed by he board as the organisation’s CEO.
She will also serve as director of Ajyal Youth Film Festival and DFI’s new Qumra festival (the inaugural event runs March 6-11).
Al Remaihi has been part of the DFI team since 2009 when she started as cultural advisor to the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, later serving as director of Ajyal and director of programmes.
Al Remaihi said: “I am honoured to be appointed as the CEO of the Doha Film Institute. It is a privilege to work with the filmmakers in our local and regional community, and I look forward to continuing to support them in telling their stories, and to expand further on our objective to build a vibrant and sustainable culture of film appreciation in Qatar.”
