Doha Film Institute (DFI) has appointed renowned Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleiman to the post of artistic advisor.

Suleiman’s last film, 7 Days In Havana, played in Un Certain Regard last year. His 2009 The Time That Remains played in competition at Cannes and won the Black Pearl Award for Best Middle Eastern Narrative Film at the 2009 Abu Dhabi Film Festival.

His credits also include Divine Intervention (2002), which won the Jury Prize and FIPRESCI prize at Cannes, and Chronicle Of A Disappearance (1996), which won the Best First Film Prize at Venice.

“Elia’s bedrock credentials as a greatly admired director are invaluable to DFI in its mission to develop and support emerging filmmakers all over the world,” said DFI CEO Abdulaziz Al Khater.
