Imagenation Abu Dhabi has signed an exclusive deal with Beirut-based Empire International to distribute its locally-produced slate throughout the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region.

The deal, which covers theatrical and DVD distribution, includes Imagenation Abu Dhabi’s first local productions, Sea Shadow and Djinn [pictured].

Sea Shadow, is a coming-of-age story directed by Emirati filmmaker Nawaf Al-Janahi (The Circle), while Djinn is an Arabian horror thriller directed by horror veteran Tobe Hooper.

Both films are currently in post-production after shooting in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Release dates for both films are yet to be announced.

Michael Garin, CEO of Imagenation Abu Dhabi, said: “The launch of our first local productions is an important milestone for Imagenation Abu Dhabi. Given Empire’s extensive experience and knowledge of this market, they were an obvious choice to ensure our movies reach the right audiences and we hope this is the beginning of a successful long-term relationship.”

Mario G. Haddad, CEO of Empire International, added: “We are looking for a long and mutually prosperous collaboration with Imagenation Abu Dhabi. With Empire’s extensive experience in the Middle East market, we know very well how to handle each and every special production across various territories of the Arab world.”

Established and headquartered in Beirut since 1919, Empire is a leading distributor and exhibitor in the Middle East. The company sub-distributes for both Sony and Twentieth Century Fox across the Arab world.
