CHINA BOX OFFICE: Ning Hao’s edgy comedy Breakup Buddies was the top-grossing film in China over the week October 6-12, taking $48.56 from 8.7 million admissions, according to figures from EntGroup.

Now in its second week, the film has grossed a cumulative total of $151.32m. Reuniting Lost In Thailand stars Huang Bo and Xu Zheng, the film revolves around two friends who go on a road trip after one of them gets divorced.

Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy was top over the weekend and came in second during the week, grossing $30.07m in its first three days. Peter Ho-sun Chan’s child kidnapping drama Dearest came in third with $11.65m for cumulative total of $47.5m in its third week on release.

Taiwanese action sequel Black & White: The Dawn Of Justice grossed a further $9.65m in its first full week for a cume of $30.47m and fourth place in the chart. Also in its second week, Ann Hui’s The Golden Era grossed $2.58m for a cume of $7.17m.

The only other opener of the week, local 3D monster movie Bugs, came in sixth with $1.97m over its first three days. McDull: Me And My Mum, the latest installment in the popular animation franchise, came in seventh with $1.9m for a cume of $6.6m.

Rounding out the chart, local sci-fi animation Armor Hero Atlas grossed $1.85m for a total of $6.8m; domestic animation Secret Plans took $1.31m for a total of $6.29m; and Kuiba III grossed $790,000 for a total of $3.77m
