This year’s Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF), a projects market held as part of Korea’s Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan), will feature a spotlight on Indonesian projects.

NAFF organisers said Indonesia had been chosen as it is currently a rising mecca of Asian genre films. The five projects to take part in “Project Spotlight: Indonesian Selections” include  Curious Grandma: The Murder Of Annet Van Houten, from Lucky Kuswandi (Madam X); vampire love story Blue Blood from Billy Christian, and Paul Agusta’s Beautiful Beast, inspired by a classic Indonesian horror film.

Also selected are psychological thriller Trauma from Sidi Saleh, DoP on Edwin’s Blind Pig Who Wants To Fly and Postcards From The Zoo, and hardcore slasher Homestay, from Natta Nazyra Noer.

“The selection conveys not only faithful genre convention, but also characteristic features based on solid Indonesian tradition,” said NAFF organisers. Previous NAFF Project Spotlights have included China (2008), Singapore (2009), Taiwan (2010) and Japan (2011).

NAFF has also announced the line-up of 20 projects from 13 territories that will take part in its co-production market “It Project 2012”. These include AR: After-Recording, a Japan-Korea-US-France co-production from Final Fantasy screenwrtier Kenji Terada; Korea-Malaysia co-production Kuala Lumpur Taxi from Kim Taisik, and India-UK-Korea co-production The Profane.

NAFF will be held July 22-25, while PiFan runs July 19-29.
