Bengali director Q is producing three new projects through his production house Overdose Joint, including Kolkata-set horror film Ludo.

Currently in pre-production, Ludo will be directed by Nikon, the editor on Q’s Tasher Desh which recently premiered at the Rome Film Festival.

Overdose Joint is also co-producing drama Kajaria with the project’s writer and director Madhureeta Anand. “Madhureeta’s film, on the subject of infanticide, is an extreme story and she felt we would be good partners for it. There will be one more producer on Kajaria,” said Q.

He added: “Besides producing these [two projects], I will direct a mockumentary with a fiction spin on the Bengali writer Nabarun Bhattacharya.”

Q also plans to direct previously announced documentary Sari and has a project in Film Bazaar’s Co-production Market, Superboudi, about a superhero sister-in-law.

Speaking about Overdose and its philosophy, Q said: “We operate as a not-for-profit collective. Our idea is to make films with lasting value by mapping current socio-political environments around us.”

Q hopes to complete Sari, a feature length documentary co-produced by Magic Lantern, by the end of 2013.
