Hong Kong-based Tiger Gate Entertainment has secured distribution for its action channel KIX and thriller/horror channel Thrill in both Hong Kong and Singapore.

Both channels will be carried by Hong Kong’s dominant IPTV platform, nowTV, and Singapore’s StarHub. The launches follow the debut of KIX and Thrill on several platforms in Indonesia in August last year.

KIX offers action movies such as Vietnam’s The Rebel, along with action, adventure and sci-fi TV programming, extreme sports and fight events. About two thirds of the channel’s content will come from Asia, while the non-Asian content will feature stars, themes or martial arts from Asia.

Thrill offers thriller, suspense and horror movies split equally between Asian and Hollywood titles. Asian titles include J-horror hits such as Ju-on and Dark Water and Chinese horrors including The Eye series, Dumplings and Three.

“With the successful launch of KIX and Thrill in Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore, Tiger Gate Entertainment is making significant headway in securing a strong Asian footprint and is ready to take viewers to a whole new level of excitement,” said Tiger Gate CEO William Pfeiffer.

Tiger Gate is a joint venture between Lionsgate, Saban Capital Group (SCG) and the company’s management. In addition to operating pay-TV channels, it also plans to enter the production of feature films and TV programming.
