Kosovo’s film body, Kosova Cinematography Center (KCC), has become the 33rd member of the pan-European film promotion umbrella European Film Promotion (EFP).

Speaking about its acceptance into the circle of European film promotion organisations, KCC director Fatos Berisha commented that membership of EFP “means more to us than an ordinary admission to a network. It’s a first opportunity for our filmmakers and industry to get concrete professional benefit on an international basis.“

Established in 2004 as a public funding body in charge of developing the film industry in Kosovo for project development, production, distribution, education and promotion, KCC had its first stands at the Berlinale’s EFM and at Cannes’ International Village this year.

EFP’s ranks had previously been swelled by the Georgian National Film Center (GNFC) which joined the network last December.

Since then, GNFC was already participated in EFP’s Producers on the Move initiative in Cannes by selecting Vladimer Katcharava of 20 Steps Productions who is now preparing his first international co-production, Epic.
