DreamWorks studios claimed 15 of the 24 awards at Saturday’s Annie awards.
DreamWorks’ How To Train Your Dragon took home 10 prizes at the 38th Annie awards.
The Oscar-nominated adventure-comedy scored awards for best animated feature, animated effects and best direction.
How To Train Your Dragon also triumphed in the writing categories, while Jay Baruchel won a voice acting award for his role as Hiccup, beating Cameron Diaz, Geoffrey Rush, Gerard Butler and Steve Carrell in the category.
Best Animated Short Subject went to Pixar’s Day & Night, while Alice In Wonderland took home the inaugural Character Animation in a Live Action Production award.
Pixar Oscar favourite Toy Story 3 was only nominated for three Annies, while Disney’s blockbuster hit Tangled scored two nods. Neither film won an award. The poor result for Disney-Pixar comes after the feud between the studio and the Annie organisers over the awards membership and voting procedure.
The gala event took place at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles.
