HandMade Films International has closed out two further major territories on animated film Planet 51, with TF1 picking up France and Moviemax Italia taking Italy. The only major territories yet to be sold are Germany and Japan.
Deals were negotiated by Carl Clifton of HFI, Moviemax Italia's Guglielemo Marchetti and Fabio Spinella, and Sara May for TF1.
The Ilion Studios' CGI animation, budgeted at around $60m, is due for completion in mid-2009.
The voice cast features Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel, Seann William Scott, Justin Long, John Cleese and Gary Oldman.
HandMade's Carl Clifton said business had also been done for its titles including Cracks, 50 Dead Men Walking and Eloise In Paris. He said: 'The current environment is certainly not easy, but if you have product that distributors want, they are buying and pre-buying. We've had a very good Cannes.'
