The Match Factory (TMF) has taken on international sales for Israeli director Ari Folman's first-ever animated documentary feature Waltz With Bashir, which is currently in postproduction and hotly tipped to premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The co-production between Israel's Bridgit Folman Films Gang Ltd., France's Les Films d'Ici and Germany's Razor Film Produktion charts the filmmaker's personal journey toward discovering the truth about an Israeli Army mission he participated in in Lebanon in the early 80s.

'Waltz With Bashir is that rare film that we've all been longing to see,' says TMF's founder and CEO Michael Weber. 'On a documentary level, the film offers a very personal and unique view of man's reaction to war. Add the stunning animation and music and the result is pure cinema.'

The deal was brokered between Weber and acquisitions executive Tobias Pausinger, and Razor Film Produktion producers Gerhard Meixner and Roman Paul.
