EXCLUSIVE: Goalpost Film and Goalpost Pictures re-team with writer Keith Thompson on historical thriller.

The writer, producer and international sales company behind breakout indie hit The Sapphires, are re-teaming on historical-thriller Six Mile Bottom.

The Sapphires co-writer Keith Thompson, producer Rosemary Blight [pictured] and sales company Goalpost Films are behind the feature, which charts the affairs and agendas of a group of politicians, statesmen and celebrities at a British country estate.

Tristan Whalley’s Goalpost Film, which sold The Sapphires to TWC during Cannes, will be discussing Six Mile Bottom with buyers at the AFM. The team expects to shoot in the UK in August 2013. Whalley will also produce.

Blight told Screen: “During the making of The Sapphires, I spoke to Keith about finding a film we could do out of the UK. This story was inspired by true events and we instantly fell in love with the amazing material.”

UK-based Goalpost Film and Blight’s Australian outfit Goalpost Pictures, who previously collaborated on 2007 Australian hit Clubland (Introducing the Dwights), are also developing Josh Wakely’s romantic drama Mixtape, which has Maia Horniak attached to direct.

The Sapphires has taken $14.7m in Australia to date and gets a wide release from eOne in the UK and Ireland on November 7. TWC releases in the US in mid-March 2013.
