Wim Wenders and Walter Salles will be attending the47th Thessaloniki International Film Festival, which will run November 17-26.

This year's festival will include a Wim Wendersretrospective, with Wenders in attendance for screenings and also to conduct amasterclass. His wife Donata Wenders will also exhibit photos she has taken ofhis films.

Another special guest will be Walter Salles, who willbe part of the festival's homage to Brazilian Cinema. The section will offermore than 20 titles from Brazil as well as masterclasses and discussions withvisiting film-makers.

The homage isorganised by TIFF in collaborationwith Grupo Novo deCinema e TV and the Brazilian Ministries of Cultureand Foreign Affairs. A selection of recent Brazilian films will also be offeredat Thessaloniki's market, which was launched last year.

Another homage will be devoted to ChineseCinema.

The international competition, programmed by festivaldirector Despina Mouzaki, will offer 14 to 16 first or second features byemerging filmmakers.

The festival's Balkan Survey section, now in its 12thyear, will present regional films of the year as well as a works-in-progresssection at the market.

The festivals other sections are devoted to Greekfilms (with a new competition), independent cinema (including a Jan Svankmajertribute), and a special themed strand entitled Teenage Lust/Teenage Angst.

The second Crossroads Co-production Forum will runfrom November 23-25.

The Balkan Fund, founded in 2003, will give grants tothe winning regional projects selected by a jury.

This marks the first time the festival has had apavilion in the International Village at Cannes, in cooperation with the GreekFilm Centre.
