The Toronto film centre has reached 96% of its total campaign goal; HSBC Canada to sponsor one of the organisation’s galleries.

The TIFF Bell Lightbox, the new film centre in Toronto which features 5 cinema five public cinemas, a three-storey atrium and two galleries, has received an extra $7 million in private and individual gifts.

Piers Handling, CEO and director of TIFF revealed that the total amount raised to date is $187.8 million, representing 96 percent of the organization’s total fundraising goal of $196 million.

Amongst the donors is HSBC Bank Canada, who will have one of the centre’s galleries named after it. The HSBC gallery will host retrospectives and interactive displays.

Other donors include Steve Gupta and Eastons Group of Hotels Inc.
 
“As audiences continue to visit TIFF Bell Lightbox and begin to develop a greater understanding of all that our new home has to offer, we are fully confident that we can complete the final phase of the campaign in the coming months,” Handling added.
