Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has promoted Tommy Gargotta to president of worldwide creative advertising.

Gargotta will report to the studios' co-presidents of worldwide theatrical marketing Valerie Van Galder and Marc Weinstock and will guide the creative marketing team in the creation of posters, commercials, trailers and in-theatre materials.

He joined Columbia in March 2001 as senior vice president of creative advertising and most recently served as senior executive vice president of worldwide creative advertising. Prior to joining SPE he served as vice president and creative director at Intralink Film Graphic Design.

Meanwhile Columbia's president of creative advertising Josh Goldstine has segued from day-to-day oversight of the department into a new role as senior creative executive at the studio.

Goldstine will focus his talents on select pictures and starts with the upcoming Will Smith drama Seven Pounds and Roland Emmerich's thriller 2012.

Since 2003 Goldstine has overseen the creative team responsible for developing trailers, posters, television ads and other marketing materials in support of theatrical releases from Columbia Pictures, Revolutions Studios and Sony Pictures Animation.

Goldstine began his career at Columbia Pictures in 1991 as executive assistant to the president of marketing. He was named senior executive vice president of marketing in 2002 and president of creative advertising in 2003.
