Two Barcelona-based heavyweights, En Efecto and MEDIApro, have announced the merger of their post-production interests.

The formerly Das Werk-owned En Efecto, now controlled by one-time Admira president and Antena 3 CEO Juan Jose Nieto, houses audio and digital post-production companies Videoefecto, Madpix, Audioclip and Lisbon-based Bikini Pos Producao de Filmes.

Production, facilities and rights management conglom MEDIApro brings post-production houses Zeligstudio and the recently acquired Molinare and Mozart to the merger.

MEDIApro will own two-thirds of the newly merged company and En Efecto's shareholders - led by Nieto, who will serve as acting president of the new company - will own one-third.

Between them, the joined companies say they will cover a high percentage of the film, television and advertising post-production market in Spain - and in Lisbon via Bikini. Future plans still in embryo stages include growing the business on an international level, with an emphasis on the southern European market.
