Theawards are presented to films released theatrically in Canada within the year, which helps explain why David Cronenberg's Spider was overlooked, particularly in the acting categories. However, a Special Citation was awarded to Richard Kelly's Donnie Darko, as "the best film not to receive a propertheatrical release in Canada".

A complete list of the winners follows with the Canadian distributor, with runners-up listed in alphabetical order by either the individual or thefilm title.
