Disney announces record day one DVD, Blu-ray and download sales for Toy Story in UK.
According to Official Charts Company (OCC) data, Toy Story 3 has overtaken The Simpsons to become the biggest-ever day one retail seller for an animated title in the UK. The blockbuster animated film also became Disney’s most downloaded title ever in the UK on its first day on iTunes.
The Toy Story franchise has spawned a multi-million dollar merchandise and gaming brand. The original Toy Story is the highest selling animated DVD/VHS title of all time in the UK & Ireland, while earlier this year Toy Story 3: The Videogame debuted at number one on the UK All Formats Chart after its first full week of sales.
This summer Toy Story 3 grossed $73.4m at the UK box office, making it the second-highest grosser ever behind Avatar.
