The 19th edition of the Turin Film Festival, Italy's pre-eminent cutting-edge event, has unveiled its competition line-up which includes Ake Sandgren's Dogme title Truly Human (Et Rigtigt Menneske) and Terry Zwigoff's Steve Buscemi starrer Ghost World, which is produced by John Malkovich.

Titles in the festival's main competition also include Monica Stambrini's Italian picture Benzina, Korean director Kwak Kyung-taek's hit Chingu, and Valeska Griseback's Austrian-German film Mein Stern.

Screening out-of-competition are Abbas Kiarostami's Aids awareness documentary, ABC Africa, Silvano Agosti's La Ragion Pura, Stephen Herek's Mark Wahlberg vehicle Rock Star and Julio Bressane's Brazilian film about Nietzche's time in Turin, Dias De Nietzsche Em Turin.

Meanwhile, the festival's popular Americana sidebar will feature Budd Boetticher's bullfighting film Arruza, Abel Ferrara's 1974 debut feature Can This Be Love, James Toback's Harvard Man with Sarah Michelle Gellar, and John Cameron Mitchell's Hedgwig And The Angry Inch.

Sidebars will also be dedicated to Anthony Mann's series of Westerns featuring James Stewart, including Winchester '73 and The Man From Laramie, as well as Egyptian cinema, the films of horrormeister George A. Romero, the work of Italy-based French filmmakers Jean-Marie Straub and Daniele Huillet, and contemporary Japanese cinema.

Around 150 directors and actors are expected to attend the festival, including Dennis Hopper, Mario Monicelli, James Toback, Abel Ferrara, Abbas Kiarostami, Silvio Soldini and Ake Sandgren.
