The Weinstein Company (TWC) has finally closed a deal with Myriad Pictures for all North American rights excluding US theatrical and Canadian theatrical and television to Dario Argento's horror film The Mother Of Tears.

TWC had been circling ever since the film's world premiere at Toronto. Genius Products will distribute the DVD in the US under its exclusive agreement with TWC. Myriad holds US and Canadian theatrical rights and plans to distribute in 2008.

'This time, it was about the passion that Harvey, Barry Gordon and the TWC team had for the film that got the deal closed,' Myriad chief Kirk D'Amico said.

'We are very excited to be distributing The Mother Of Tears and to be in business with Kirk D'Amico and the team at Myriad,' TWC Home Entertainment executive vice president Barry Gordon said.

'Argento fans have been waiting for years for this one, and now they are finally going to get an opportunity to experience the final chapter of the trilogy.'

The Mother Of Tears stars Asia Argento and is the third and final instalment in Argento's witches trilogy that began with Suspiria in 1977 and continued with Inferno in 1980.

Gordon and Eileen Rodriguez negotiated on behalf of TWC with D'Amico. Mother Of Tears will be released theatrically in Italy at the end of October.
