UGC Films UK has pre-bought UK theatrical rights to Terence Davies' upcoming adaptation of Scottish novel Sunset Song.

Producers Bob Last and Ginnie Atkinson are also in final negotiations with Janine Gold and Natalie Brenner's Element X for the project to join that sales company's debut international slate.

Visionview, the UK tax financier which is backing Element X, is in final talks to invest in the SellOut Pictures production, due to start shooting late summer.

The adaptation of Lewis Grassic Gibbon's novel tells the story of Chris, the young heroine, and the unsettling Ewan, set against an unforgiving land. "This will be Terence Davies' Gone With The Wind," said UGC Films UK managing director Louisa Dent.
