UK deal for Pyramide's Free Men and EFM deal round-up

Pyramide has sold Free Men (Des Hommes Libres), directed by Ismael Ferroukhi and starring Tahar Rahim [pictured] and Michael Lonsdale, to Artificial Eye for the UK.

Deals were also done for Benelux (Lumiere) and Switzerland (Pathe).

Pyramide also sold Andrei Zvyagintsev’s Elena to Benelux (Imagine), Greece (Seven), and Portugal (Clap).The latter also took Bruno Dumont’s The Empire.

Finally, Angele & Tony has sold to Argentina/Chile/Paraguay/Uruguay (Aura) and Sweden (Tri Art). Pyramide will handle French distribution for all the titles.

In other EFM deals, Thailand’s Sahamongkolfilm International has done another slew of sales on action film Bangkok Knockout: BKO after its world premiere at EFM. The film added sales from Klockwerx for Japan, Long Shong for Taiwan, CP Digital for Russia/CIS and Taksi for Turkey.

Joy Content Group has picked up all Korean rights to Miguel Angel Lamata’s Spanish erotic comedy Unresolved Sexual Tension, from Buenos Aires-based sales company FilmSharks. Distribution deals have also been done with Maywin (CIS) who will release the film in Russia this summer and Venevision for North America, with US remake offers “on the table,” according to Guido Rud of FilmSharks.

Matteo Lovadina’s new sales company Reel Suspects has sold Laurent Bouhnik’s Q to Green Narae Media for South Korean, Koen Mortier’s 22nd of May to Italy (Movies Inspired) and Anarchy in Zirmunai to Italy (Atlantide) and Germany/Austria/Switzerland (Profun).

Scanbox has taken on Scandinavian rights for The Caller from Bankside Films. Scanbox’s other pickups include 11-11-11 from Epic and David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method from HanWay.
