The Mill, which creates visual effects for the television industry, is to re-enter the film market, with the re-launch of Mill Film, a visual effects studio for movies.

The studio's earlier film division, Mill Film, closed in 2002 but continued working in film on a project by project basis. The company has decided to re-enter the film market as a result of increasing requests from clients to work on feature film projects.

Following its expansion into the film market, Mill Film and Mill TV have taken on Roma O'Connor as Head of Production across both studios.

O'Connor, who joined the team in December of last year, is a senior visual effects producer whose credits include Slumdog Millionaire, Tropic Thunder and The Duchess.

Speaking to Screendaily.com, Will Cohen, Group Director of Mill Film and Mill TV, said 'We've seen more of a convergence of media. We intend to apply the principles that we've learned on television, in terms of high quality and low cost, towards film. Mill Film will provide a fresh alternative to film-makers in 2009.'
