Bristol-based FAQS has closed a number of deal on Simon Pearce’s Shank including to Optimale in France, GM Films in Germany, TLA Releasing for the UK and USA.

The film focuses on a teenage gang member who hides his sexuality from his fellow happy slapping gang members. It stars Wayne Virgo, Marc Laurent and Alice Payne.

The development and production has also launched a micro-budget slate of gay titles. First up is Release, which starts principal photography in July 2009. It tells the story of a priest who is jailed by society for assisting in his younger brother’s suicide and falls in love with a prison officer.

Alpha-Male is to shoot in May 2010 and follows the return of an army officer from Iraq accused of overseeing the abuse and torture of enemy combatants. In a fragile state of mind, he begins an affair with his daughter’s boyfriend.

The slate also includes Booty Royale, a musical comedy about a troupe of drag queens who plot to borrow the crown jewels for the ultimate prize of being crowned Queen. Finally Painting David rounds out the slate and is about a group of bored middle aged gay men compete for the affections of their pool boy.
