Film started shooting last weekend starring James Cosmo, Crain Conway, Nora Jane-Noon.

Shooting has started by Danish film-maker Adam Levins on his dark family drama January. The 24-day shoot is undersay on a private estate in County Durham.

The cast features James Cosmo, Craig Conway, Amy Manson, Nora Jane-Noon and James Lance.

The story of aristocratic family secrets and crimes has gotten an investment of £150,000 from the Finance for Business - North East Creative Content Fund.

The fund is managed by Northstar Ventures and held by Northern Film & Media (Holdco) Ltd.

Other Creative Content Fund backed films include United starring David Tennant.

Producer William Borthwick said: “January is a dark family drama with a twist, best described as ‘Gosford Park meets Misery’! We have found a fantastic location in the North East, received essential investment from the Creative Content Fund, and first class production support from Northern Film & Media.”

Face Films is producing the film, which also has a further £150,000 of private equity funding towards the £500,000 total budget.

Face previously produced black comedy City Rats.
