Exclusive Media Group (EMG) has signed a first-look deal with Undefeated producers Zipper Bros Films ahead of the film’s screening in Toronto on Tuesday (13).

The partners will develop, finance and produce up to two documentaries per year with a distinct social purpose. Titles will be produced under Exclusive’s documentary label, Spitfire Pictures.

Zipper Bros Films chief Ralph Zipper negotiated the deal with EMG co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East and the head of documentary Films at Exclusive, Glen Zipper.

“After an amazing experience working together with Exclusive in producing Undefeated, Zipper Bros is incredibly excited to expand this relationship and together bring provocative and unexpected stories to the big screen,” Ralph Zipper said.

“Exclusive Media is so incredibly proud of the success Undefeated has already enjoyed,” Sinclair said. “Building on our relationship is a natural next step and we’re both very excited about this new partnership.”

Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin directed the film, which premiered at SXSW and charts the fortunes of an inner-city Memphis football team. Exclusive’s Spitfire label and Zipper Bros produced in association with Level 22 and Five Smooth Stones Productions. TWC will release in the autumn in the US.

“This entire experience – making Undefeated and working together with Nigel and the team at Exclusive – has been incredible,” Glen Zipper said. “Zipper Bros has a number of projects in the pipeline that are ready to take the next step.”
