Universal's comedy Baby Mama starring Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Sigourney Weaver will open the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Apr 23.

Michael McCullers' feature directorial debut stars Fey as a career woman who enlists the support of a surrogate (Poehler) in order to start a family, only for the surrogate to turn up on her doorstep in need of a home. The film shot primarily in New York City.

Universal has set an Apr 25 release date. McCullers cut his teeth as a writer on the long-running Saturday Night Live show in the US, which also launched the careers of Fey and Poehler.

Greg Kinnear, Dax Shepard, Romany Malco, Maura Tierney and Holland Taylor round out the cast. Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels served as producer with John Goldwyn.

The 2008 Tribeca Film Festival will announce its primary film slate on Mar 11, Mar 13 and Mar 17. The festival is scheduled to run from Apr 23-May 4.
