Universal'sAmerican Pie: The Wedding enjoyed a strong number one UK opening through UIP at theweekend, grossing $6.9m from 432 theatres including paid previews.

The comedysequel scored the eighth best opening for a Universal film in the UK, accordingto the distributor, taking double the opening gross of American Pie ($3.3m in 1999) but 13% behind AmericanPie 2 ($7.9m in 2001).

In Australia thefilm remained number one in its second week, adding $1.6m from 213 sites anddropping 42% for $5.3m after 11 days.

The film isrunning 17% ahead of American Pie ($4.5m after the same period) and 29% ahead of American Pie 2 ($4.1m).

Overall it grossed $8.5m from the UK and Australia,raising its international running total to $12.2m.

The Hulk had no new openings but mustered$964,000 from 735 sites in 20 countries to raise its international total todate to $94.5m.

Weekend figuresdo not include Latin America, where they were still collecting grosses as ofAug 18.

With sevencountries to go including Italy, Ang Lee's superhero romp should hit the$100m barrier.

2 Fast 2Furious roared off to agood opening in South Africa, where $261,000 from 67 sites was considerablybigger than the 2001 bow for The Fast And The Furious, which produced $174,000.

The film grossed $548,000 from 357 sites in 13 countries,although Latin America had not reported at time of writing.
