Val Kilmer has joined the cast of writer-director RevergeAnselmo's romantic drama Stateside,a joint venture between Anselmo's Seven Hills Pictures and First LookMedia. Already on board are Joe Mantegna, Rachel Leigh Cook, who starred in JosieAnd The Pussycats, Jonathan Tucker, whowill be seen in the upcoming remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Agnes Bruckner, whose credits include MurderBy Numbers and the upcoming BlueCar. Carrie Fisher, Diane Venora and EdBegley Jr also feature in the story of a reckless rich kid who reluctantly endsup in the Marine Corps and falls for a troubled performer as he prepares toleave for war. Kilmer will play the tough drill instructor while Mantegna willplay the youngster's tycoon father. Seven Hills will retain internationaland domestic rights and will determine distribution strategy with theassistance of Overseas Filmgroup, First Look Media's international salesarm.

'We are thrilled to add two more great actors to acast that has turned out to be a fine ensemble. The material has reallyattracted fantastic talent and to be based out of New York and Wilmington, whatcould be better,' producer Robert Greenhut said in a statement. Greenhutwill produce with Bonnie Hlinomaz.

Through the company he has written, directed andproduced The Outfittersand Lover's Prayer, which starred Kirsten Dunst and was distributed by First LookPictures/Overseas Filmgroup. First Look Media titles include Before NightFalls, Greenfingers, Titus, Waking Ned Devine and The Prophecy.
