Wong Kar Wai's 2046, Ken Loach's Ae Fond Kiss,John Boorman's Country Of My Skull are among the feature films competingat Spain's upcoming Valladolid International Film Festival (Oct 22-30).

The titles vie for prizes including the Golden Spike, withEuros 35,000 for the Spanish distributor, and the Silver Spike, with Euros17,500 for the Spanish distributor. The best new director award carries a purseof Euros 15,000.

The event, gearing up for next year's 50thanniversary edition, boasts a line-up including out-of-competition titles suchas Jim Jarmusch's Coffee And Cigarettes; Jonathon Demme's TheManchurian Candidate; Theo Angelopoulos' Trilogy: The Weeping Meadowand Amos Gitai's Promised Land.

Gitai and Imanol Uribe are set to receive tributes. Other sidebarsinclude a documentary competition; a parallel fiction sidebar (alsocompetitive) called Meeting Point; cycles of Swiss, Chinese and Spanish films,European documentaries and works from graduates of Spanish and Russian filmschools.
