The 14 Australian and six New Zealand projects in thepre-financing market SPAAMart in Queensland next month include second featuresfrom the directors Ana Kokkinos (Head On),Ivan Sen (Beneath Clouds), andChristina Andreef (Soft Fruit).

Producers coming with projects include Jan Chapman (ThePiano, Lantana), Trevor Haysom (InMy Father's Den), Daniel Scharf (RomperStomper), Martin Fabinyi (executiveproducer, Chopper), Robin Scholes(Once Were Warriors) and MelanieCoombs, who produced short film Oscar winner Harvie Krumpet.

Overseas executives in attendance include Fortisimmo'sAshley Luke, Renaissance's Iain Canning and Prescience's PaulBrett, all from the UK, Myriad's Kirk D'Amico, Endgame's MarkHorowitz and Antidote's Mary Jane Skalsi, from the US, as well as IndieCircle/Haut et Court's Chris Mercier and Greenlight Productions'Dominique Green from France.

In the coming-of-age drama from Kokkinos, Talk Shit AndDance Like A Girl, a 15-year-old cool dudeteaches a flamboyant Greek gay boy how to surf. David Hely wrote the script andis producing alongside Louise Smith.

Sen is working with Moulin Rouge producer Martin Brown on Dust, based on Sen's short of the same name and setamong itinerant workers. It opens with a backpacker being found with her throatcut and has thriller elements.

Producer Helen Bowden and writer/director ChristineAndreef's project is an adaptation of novelist Nikki Gemmel'sShiver and emerging from the Mushroom stable is Anthony Hayes' debut TenEmpty. Chapman's film SuburbanMayhem, is written by Leah Churchill-Brownand will hopefully see director Paul Goldman return to the form shown in hisemotional debut feature Australian Rules.

Coombs' film Veris,from writer/director Stella Kinsella, is a low-budget urban tale set in thefuture and is about love, loss and cash-rich time-poor lives.

Those attending will also be able to participate in theannual Screen Producers Conference of Australia, which runs alongside SPAAMartfrom August 8-10.
