Ismael Ferroukhi's French-Moroccan co-production Le GrandVoyage was awarded the Golden Astro for best feature film at the 20thanniversary edition of Argentina's Mar del Plata International Film Festival(March 10-20)

Le Grand Voyage star Mohamed Majid also won bestactor for his work in the film, a road movie with a twist about a father andson who come to better understand each other during a long pilgrimage to Mecca.The film, which won the Luigi de Laurentiis Lion of the Future prize in Venice,was produced by the late Humbert Balsan.

Another Moroccan co-production, this time with Belgium, wonbest director: Yasmine Kassari's The Sleeping Child (L'Enfant Endormi).The best actress Astro was shared by Laura Linney for P.S. andEmmanuelle Devos for Gilles' Wife (La Femme De Gilles).

Oliver Hirschbiegel's Downfall (Der Untergang) wonbest script, while Iranian Mohsen Amiryoussefi's Bitter Dream (Khab-e Talkh)won the jury's special prize. The Silver Astor for best Iberoamerican featurewent to Lucia Murat's Almost Brothers (Quase Dois Ismaos), which alsowon the public's prize.

Among the various non-official awards handed out at theevent, where more than 300 titles screened, were the FIPRESCI prize for localfilmmaker Anahi Berneri's A Year Without Love (Un Ano Sin Amor) and theIberoamerican Producers' Federation (FIPCA) best Iberoamerican film prize forDaniel Burman's The Last Embrace (El Abrazo Partido). Geoffrey Gilmore,Dieter Kosslick, Thierry Fremaux, Andrea Martini and Mikel Olairegui comprisedthe high-profile jury for the FIPCA prize.
