Warner Bros Pictures has made three senior promotions in its London-based international marketing division. Con Gornell has been named senior vice president, European theatrical marketing, Conor Nolan has been promoted to vice president European promotions and special events, and Armin Schneider has been named vice president, European publicity. The promotions were made by Sue Kroll, president of international marketing at Warner Bros Pictures.

Gornell will oversee and manage the day-to-day marketing operations in Europe, overseeing a diverse range of projects, a London-based staff and all regional marketing activities. He most recently served as vice president, European marketing, Warner Bros Pictures, having joined the studio in Sept 1997 as vice president, European media. Previously he was in charge of the Warner Bros account at Grey London for five years where he was media director.

Nolan is charged with designing and executing regional promotional programmes to add value and extend marketing awareness for the division's theatrical releases in Europe. He will also develop and supervise inter-company tie-in efforts, as well as third-party promotional liaisons, partner sponsorships and new media promotional opportunities. He will also oversee regionally based special events. He joined Warner in March 1996 as category head, promotions, in the consumer products division where he oversaw the Space Jam campaign in conjunction with McDonald's, Kellog's and Danone. In June 1997, he transferred to the European theatrical distribution group as European promotions director.

Schneider will develop and execute local market trade and consumer publicity strategies, initiating and supervising all campaigns out of Warner's London office. He will also work with local territory managers on in-country publicity campaigns for all Warner Bros Pictures' European theatrical films, local market acquisitions and co-productions. Schneider transferred from Germany to the UK in Dec 1997 to become director, European Publicity, Warner Bros Pictures. Prior to that, he worked at Warner Bros Pictures in Germany in various posts including publicity manager in Hamburg.
