Actress Leonor Watling has joined the cast of director Cesc Gay's forthcoming tragicomedy In The City (En La Ciudad).

Watling, who starred as the comatose ballerina in Pedro Almodovar's Talk To Her (Hable Con Ella), will take a supporting role in the film, which stars Eduard Fernandez (Smoking Room), Monica Lopez (Intact), Vicenta Ndongo (No News From God) and Maria Pujalte (My Mother Likes Women), among others.

Co-scripted by Gay and Tomas Aragay, In The City turns on the secrets and emotions kept hidden among a group of friends in Barcelona. The film marks director Gay's highly-anticipated follow-up to coming-of-age tale Krampack, which screened in Cannes Critics Week 2000 and sold extensively abroad.

The Euros 3m film, a production of Marta Esteban's Messidor Films, begins shooting on October 28. Alta Films will distribute in Spain while Margaret Nicoll's newly created New Zeal handles international financing and sales.
