The Weinstein Company (TWC) has acquired multiple territory rights to the latest red-hot Scandinavian property in the wake of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy.

The company is understood to have negotiated US, Italian, German (excluding free TV) and pan-Asian satellite rights with Trust Nordisk to the hit Swedish crime thriller Easy Money (Snabba Cash), Danish-Swedish director Daniel Espinosa’s first part of Swedish lawyer Jens Lapidus’ bestselling Stockholm Noir trilogy.

TWC did not comment on the deal however Harvey and Bob Weinstein are also believed to be pursuing highly coveted English-language remake rights to the property.

Easy Money is the biggest Swedish release of the year so far on $7.6m after ten weekends and charts a country boy’s career in Stockholm’s underground crime world.

Joel Kinnaman, Dragomir Mrsic and Matias Padin star and Maria Karlsson adapted the screenplay.
