US independentWellspring has acquired international rights to two hard-hitting documentaries,Billy Corben's Raw Deal and Michael Galinsky and Suki Hawley's Horns And Halos.

Raw Deal, which was produced by Spellman/CorbenProductions, screened at Sundance 2002 and focuses on the alleged rape byFlorida university students of a 27-year-old exotic dancer. Wellspring hassecured international rights outside North America.

In Horns AndHalos, film-maker Hawleyexamines the controversial circumstances behind the recall in 1999 of FortunateSon, the first publishedbiography of George W Bush. The company has acquired rights excluding North andSouth America and Australia from production outfit Rumur Inc. Rumur Inc. wasrepresented by attorney Jeff Sanders of New York-based Arent Fox.

Marie ThereseGuirgis, Wellspring's recently named head of acquisitions, said bothfilms were 'dynamic, thought-provoking examples of documentaryfilm-making at its boldest and we are proud to add them to our ever-expandinglibrary of exceptional films.'

Wellspring plansto launch both pictures at MIPTV 2003 in Cannes next week.
