Wild Hogs director Becker sells comedy pitch to Dimension

Comedy director Walt Becker has followed up the success of Wild Hogs, which opened at number one in the US last weekend, by selling a comedy pitch to Dimension Films.

The company will develop and produce Runt, based on a story idea by Becker and David Gallagher about twin brothers who are complete opposites.

Becker will direct from a screenplay he will co-write with Gallagher. He will also serve as executive producer. Mandeville Films' David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing.

Dimension president of production Richard Saperstein and senior vice president of production Matthew Stein will oversee the project.

'I am very excited about being in business with Walt and think he is incredibly talented and has a long and successful career ahead of him,' Bob Weinstein said. 'His vision for Runt is absolutely hilarious.'

'I'm very excited to be working with Bob Weinstein and everyone at Dimension,' Becker added. 'I've long respected their passion for film and their support of film-makers.'

Executive vice president of business and legal affairs Andrew Kramer negotiated on behalf of Dimension Films with ICM, Nine Yards and Sloan, Offer, Weber and Dern on behalf of Becker. Gallagher is represented by Diverse Talent Group and Sloan, Offer, Weber and Dern.
