New York-basedOffshore Entertainment has launched with a slate of feature, television andmusic projects including Morgan J Freeman's road movie Just Like The Son.

Financed through a New York investment bank, the umbrellacompany is headed up by former investment fund manager Christopher Woodrow aschief executive officer and Darren Kotchek as chief financial officer.

OffshorePictures and Offshore Television will be overseen by director of developmentShawn Parsons, and the plan is for the division to produce five to sevenfeatures through 2006 in the $1m-$10m range. All titles will be financedthrough Offshore and investors.

Just Like TheSon centres on ajuvenile delinquent on community service who learns about responsibility afterhe undertakes a road trip across America with a seven-year-old child.

The project iscurrently in post-production and shot in July and August in New York andWilmington, North Carolina.

Jamin O'Brienand LaSalleHolland's Gill Holland and Mathew Parker are producing, withOffshore's Woodrow and LaSalleHolland's Lillian LaSalle serving as executiveproducers.
