Shooting has begun onlocation in Leeds on Penny Woolcock's Mischief Night.

Woolcock (Tina Goes Shopping, The Death ofKlinghoffer, The Principles of Lust)latest film is billed as an exuberant, wild andcontemporary comedy drama about two families (one white, one Asian) who cometogether unexpectedly on a local night of carnival trickery and festivity.

The executive producers areGeorge Faber, Charles Pattinson and Robyn Slovo for Company Pictures, PeterDale for FilmFour and Hugo Heppell for Screen Yorkshire. It is produced by AbiBach and Willow Grylls for Company Pictures.

The film was developed byCompany Pictures and FilmFour with the assistance of UK Film CouncilDevelopment funding. Production is being funded by the UK Film Council's Premiere Fund (which invested £800,000), FilmFour and ScreenYorkshire Production Fund.

It will be distributedtheatrically in the UK by Pathe Distribution and sold worldwide by PathePictures International.

Woolcock will be workingwith a team including editor Michael Parker (East is East, Calendar Girls, The House of Mirth), DOP Robbie Ryan(Wasp - Oscar winner Best Short, LiveAction, 2005) and music consultants Bobby Friction and Nihal from BBC Radio 1.
