Susan Sarandon and Richard Gere will attend the opening night gala screening.

Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon will bring a touch of Hollywood glamour to the 60th edition of the San Sebastián Film Festival as they attend the opening night gala screening of Arbitrage, a thriller set in the world of high finance.

The film tells the story of Robert Miller (Gere), a mogul with a loving wife (played by Sarandon) and daughter, whose empire is about to fall apart if he doesn’t sell it to a bank befote a fraud he has comitted comes to light.

Arbitrage will screen on September 21, kicking off this year’s Official Section. It will be the European premiere of the film, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year.

It is the first feature fiction film for director and writer Nicolas Jarecki, author of the best seller Breaking In: How 20 Film Directors Got Their Start (2002) and the documentary The Outsider. He also produced the Cannes awarded documentary Tyson (2008).

The film will be distributed in Spain by TriPictures and internationally by Parlay Films

This is the first film in the festival’s Official Section to be unveiled. On friday, the line up of Spanish films will be announced, with Bayona’s The Impossible, Trueba’s The Artist And The Model and Rebollo’s El Muerto Y Ser Feliz expected to be on the list. 

The 60th edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival will take place from next September 21 -29.
