Veteran CBS international television sales chief Armando Nuñez has been given an expanded role and a newly-created title amid ongoing executive changes at the US media giant.

As president and chief executive officer for the CBS Global Distribution Group and chief content licensing officer for CBS Corporation, Nuñez will oversee a single division bringing together content licensing, US syndication and international distribution. He will report to CBS Corporation president and acting chief executive officer Joe Ianniello.

Nuñez will be responsible for a portfolio of CBS-owned original content that airs on the CBS and CW broadcast networks, the CBS All Access streaming service, the Showtime premium cable network and non-CBS platforms, as well as a library of more than 10,000 episodes of programming.

He will also continue as head of CBS Studios International, which handles worldwide distribution and format sales and manages 11 international channel ventures, the company’s ownership of Network Ten in Australia and international co-productions and local content production.

Nuñez has led CBS’ international operations since joining the company in 1999 as president of CBS Broadcast International. His promotion follows the retirement of CBS’ head of domestic syndication Paul Franklin and the departure of chief content licensing officer Scott Koondel.

Ianniello, named acting CBS Corporation CEO after the recent departure of Leslie Moonves, commented: “CBS is a global premium content company. This reorganisation establishes a focused structure for content monetisation of our shows across all platforms, both domestically and internationally, under an accomplished worldwide distribution leader. Armando is a best-in-class executive with strong client relationships on every continent and an impressive track record for creating business opportunities and distribution strategies that maximize revenue for CBS programming.”
