India’s Eros International is teaming with local film fund Vistaar Religare and production house Cinergy to co-produce love story Mausam starring Shahid Kapur and Sonam Kapoor.

Actor-turned-filmmaker Pankaj Kapur is directing the project which started shooting last month in Edinburgh, Scotland and will also film in several locations in India. Technical crew also includes DoP Binod Pradhan and composer Pritam.

Eros said in a statement that the film marks the beginning of a long-term relationship with Vistaar Religare and that the two entities are looking at further projects together.

Launched in 2008 and touted at the time as India’s first film fund approved by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Vistaar Religare has invested in Indian productions such as Stoneman Murders and Siddharth: The Prisoner. It also recently invested in Derrick Borte’s The Joneses, produced by US-based Echo Lake Productions and starring David Duchovny and Demi Moore.

“As a transparent and corporate film fund, we have always believed in investing and remained focused on being able to be an effective catalyst for high quality, meaningful content,” said Sheetal V Talwar, managing director of Vistaar Religare Capital Advisors.

Cinergy is a production and financing house founded by Talwar and producer Madhu Mantena who produced hit Bollywood film Ghajini. Its upcoming slate also includes Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra and Abbas Tyrewala’s 1-800-LOVE.
