EXCLUSIVE: Jung Woo-sung stars in Jo Bum-gu’s underground gambling thriller.

Major South Korean investor/distributor Showbox/Mediaplex has added The Divine Move, starring Jung Woo-sung, to its AFM sales slate.

Directed by Jo Bum-gu, whose credits include the 2011 hit Quick, the film stars Jung Woo-sung from Cold Eyes as a hard-boiled Go player who is framed for and convicted of his brother’s murder.

Veteran actor Ahn Sung-ki, from Unbowed and Battle Of Wits, features as a blind master who backs him up as he penetrates the underground gambling circle of his brother’s killer.

Currently in production, the film is set to be released in the first half of 2014.

Showbox also has three market premieres at AFM, led by Hwayi: A Monster Boy, the much-awaited second feature from Save The Green Planet director Jang Joon-hwan; spy action thriller Commitment, starring Choi Seung-hyun (also known as T.O.P. from the K-pop group Big Bang); and the 3D baseball-playing gorilla film Mr. Go, directed by Kim Yong-hwa (200 Pounds Beauty, Take Off).

The company is also revealing first cuts from Won Shin-yun’s anticipated action thriller The Suspect, starring Gong Yoo from Silenced and the TV series Coffee Prince.

Gong plays a top North Korean agent who is betrayed and forced to defect to the South where he is framed for murder and goes on the run while trying to uncover the truth behind a conspiracy.

The film is currently in post-production with a scheduled local release in December.
