Daniel Yun is leaving his post as managing director of Singapore-based production and distribution company MediaCorp Raintree Pictures after 11 years in the job.
“I have decided to move on to plan and pursue other career options,” said Yun in a statement. “I hope to still collaborate with both MediaCorp and Raintree Pictures in the next phase of my career.”
A MediaCorp spokesperson said Yun’s last day would be September 10. MediaCorp deputy CEO (Television) Chang Long-jong has stepped in to run the wholly-owned MediaCorp subsidiary.
It’s understood that Yun will be launching his own Singapore-based production venture.
Yun was founding managing director of Raintree Pictures, which launched in August 1998 and quickly became Singapore’s dominant production outfit.
In addition to producing home-grown fare such as Jack Neo’s I Not Stupid, Kelvin Tong’s The Maid and Royston Tan’s 881, it also co-finances pan-Asian co-productions such as Derek Yee’s Protégé. It has also co-produced international films including Tony Ayres’ The Home Song Stories.
