The programme is designed to help film-makers from non-traditional backgrounds to break into the UK industry.
B3 Media is to host its second TalentLab – a multimedia development programme aimed at Black, Asian and minority ethnic artists and film-makers.
24 candidates will take part in the programme, which will be made up of a series of development labs. From the labs, up to 12 short/long form or transmedia projects will be selected for further development and up to 6 projects will be commissioned between August and October 2012.
Teams will be given the chance to pitch for further development support in November.
The scheme is backed by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund, the University of Nottingham’s Horizon/Mixed Reality Lab and the Binger Filmlab. Applications are now open with a deadline of May 21.
Founder and creative director of B3 Media, Marc Boothe, said: “Emerging artists and filmmakers from non traditional backgrounds, particularly from outside London, are often isolated in this business. We hope to provide the support networks to help them build sustainable careers as well as creating an incubator environment for the next wave of storytellers.”
