The first installment will kick off in April, with a focus on female directors from the UK.

The BFI Southbank is launching a new annual season dedicated to British film – Made In Britain.

The first installment will take place over the month of April with a spotlight on British female directors.

The programme will include screenings of Carol Morley’s The Alcohol Years, Clio Barnard’s The Arbor and Joanna Hogg’s Archipelago, each of which will be followed by Q&As with the directors.

There will also be screenings of Gillian Wearing’s Self Made, Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights, Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin and Lucy Walker’s Wasteland.

The month long season will kick off on April 2 with Made In Brtain: Next Gen, which will feature a selection of short films by acclaimed women directors, in partnership with Birds Eye View. There will also be a special programme dedicated to the early short films of Lynne Ramsay and Andrea Arnold on April 6.

The recent Film Policy Review made recommendations for a British Film Week, an idea which is still under consultation.
